Jeju International Airport (제주국제공항) is a single terminal on the north coast of the island, about 4 km from downtown Jeju City (제주시), and it has no train or subway. Everything leaves from the road right outside the first-floor arrivals hall: city and express buses at Gate 2, the airport limousine at Gate 5, taxis across the crosswalk from Gate 3, and the rental car shuttles beyond Gate 5. Into Jeju City, take any city bus for ₩1,150 (about $0.85) with a transit card, 10 to 20 minutes, or a taxi for around ₩9,000 (about $6.60). To the Jungmun resort area (중문관광단지) or Seogwipo (서귀포) on the south coast, take limousine bus 600 for ₩4,500 to ₩5,500 (about $3.30 to $4) or express bus 181 or 182 for ₩3,000 (about $2.20); both take 55 to 100 minutes depending on where you get off.
The terminal in one minute
Almost every visitor lands on a domestic flight from Gimpo, Gimhae, or another mainland airport, and the domestic wing is the big one. Arrivals, baggage claim, and the numbered exit doors (Gate 1 to Gate 5) are on the first floor. Check-in counters for Korean Air, Jeju Air, Jin Air, T'way, and Air Busan are on the third floor, and the second floor is the airside departure lounge. The smaller international wing next door has its own arrivals hall on the first floor.
Useful things on the domestic first floor: the Jeju Tourist Association information desk (제주관광협회 종합안내센터, open 07:00 to 22:00), the counters for Lotte, Tamna, and Jeju Rent-a-car between Gates 2 and 3, a CU convenience store, bank ATMs, WOWPASS kiosks, and a clinic at the Gate 5 end (07:00 to 22:00). The international first floor has currency exchange counters, an SKT roaming counter to the left of Gate 5 that opens around international arrivals, and a baggage storage counter (06:00 to 22:00). The free Wi-Fi network is named "Jeju_Airport Free Wi-Fi."
The airport lists no dedicated transit card counter. Korean convenience stores normally sell T-money cards, and the CU on the first floor is the place to try, but the safe move is to arrive with a loaded card from the mainland. Step by step: from baggage claim to the bus
- Collect your bags on the first floor and walk toward the row of exit doors along the front of the building. They are numbered Gate 1 to Gate 5 (게이트 1 to 5) and every transport option is keyed to one of them.
- City and express buses: go out Gate 2. The stops are directly outside, grouped by destination, with the route numbers on each stop sign. Express buses (급행, route numbers 101 to 182) to the east coast, the west coast, the 5.16 road, and the Pyeonghwa-ro highway each have their own stop, and so do the regular city buses toward City Hall (시청), Yongdam (용담), Nohyeong (노형), and Yeon-dong (연동).
- Limousine bus 600: go out Gate 5 and walk about 10 meters to the right. The stop is signed 리무진버스 정류장. Buses run every 16 to 40 minutes from 06:00 to 22:20.
- Tap your transit card on the reader as you board, and tap again as you get off. Express and limousine fares are charged by distance, so if you skip the tap-out, the reader charges you the maximum fare for the route. Transfers within 40 minutes of tapping out are discounted, up to two per trip.
- Taxi: go out Gate 3 and cross the crosswalk to the taxi stand. Regular taxis are silver or white; the black deluxe taxis (모범택시) cost nearly double.
- Rental car: go out Gate 5 (or Gate 3), cross the crosswalk, and follow the signs reading 렌터카하우스 가는길 under the canopy to the Rental Car House (렌터카하우스), where each company's shuttle has a numbered bay.
Costs
Adult fares with a transit card, in won, from the airport. Dollar figures are approximate at about ₩1,360 to the dollar. Jeju froze its bus and taxi fares for 2026 after debating an increase, so these figures may change in 2027.

Express buses start at ₩2,000 (about $1.50) for the first 20 km and add ₩200 per 5 km up to a cap of ₩3,000, which is why every long trip above shows the same fare. Children pay half on the limousine and youths get 20% off.
The airport publishes its own taxi estimates for a regular (일반) taxi. They assume daytime traffic and are on the pessimistic side for time.

The meter starts at ₩4,300 (about $3.20) for the first 2 km in a regular taxi, and 20% is added between 23:00 and 04:00. Calling a taxi through an app adds a ₩1,000 fee.
Options compared
Jeju City center. Take a city bus. Route 365 runs every 11 to 21 minutes and reaches the Jungang-ro crossing (중앙로사거리) in about 11 minutes and City Hall in about 19. Route 315 stops at the Jeju Bus Terminal 9 minutes out, which matters if you are continuing to the countryside on a bus that does not serve the airport. A taxi is worth it with luggage or a group: the ride is short and the airport's ₩9,000 estimate is for the far side of downtown.
Jungmun. Limousine 600 is built for this trip. It stops at the entrance of every major resort hotel (Lotte, Shilla, Grand Josun, Parnas, Kensington, and others) and at the Jeju International Convention Center for ₩4,500. Every other departure is numbered 601, which drives into the grounds of the Lotte, Suite, and Shilla hotels and ends at the convention center instead of continuing to Seogwipo, so check the number if your stop is beyond Jungmun. Express 182 is cheaper at ₩2,800 and about as fast to the Jungmun transfer stop by the post office, but that stop is on the highway, a walk or a short taxi from the hotels.
Seogwipo. Three buses go, and they end at different places. Limousine 600 continues from Jungmun along the coast to the Seogwipo harbor and the KAL Hotel (₩5,500, about 100 minutes), which is right if your hotel is in the old downtown by the harbor. Express 181 takes the 5.16 road over the mountain to the Seogwipo transfer stop by the registry office (서귀포등기소) in about 75 minutes and the Seogwipo Bus Terminal in about 85, for ₩3,000; express 182 goes via Jungmun to the same terminal in about 70 minutes and on to the downtown Jungang Rotary (중앙로터리) in about 90. Limousine 800 skips Jungmun and reaches the Seogwipo Bus Terminal in about 80 minutes for ₩5,000, so it is only worth it when a 181 or 182 is not due. The bus terminal is out by the World Cup Stadium, not downtown, so plan a taxi or a city bus for the last stretch.
East coast. Express 111 goes to Seongsan Ilchulbong in about 85 minutes; express 101 follows the coast road to Hamdeok, Gimnyeong, and Seongsan; 121 and 122 go to Pyoseon; 131 and 132 to Namwon. All cost ₩2,000 to ₩3,000 by distance.
Rental car. Most visitors rent. The three companies with counters in the terminal let you sign the paperwork inside and ride their shuttle to the lot; everyone else meets you at the Rental Car House. You need an International Driving Permit issued under the Geneva or Vienna convention, your home license, and your passport; the Korea Tourism Organization notes that renters must be 21 or older and that the deposit card has to be in the driver's name.
Late-night and early-morning flights
The first buses from the airport leave around six: limousine 601 at 06:00 and 600 at 06:30, express 181 at 06:40, express 182 at 06:45, and city bus 365 from 06:03. Evening flights are the problem. The last 600 leaves at 22:20, the last 181 at 22:15, and the last 182 at 21:30. After that, the only scheduled bus to the south coast is late-night route 800-1 (심야), which leaves the airport at 22:30 and 23:00 and reaches the Seogwipo registry office in an hour for ₩5,000. City buses toward downtown Jeju run until about 22:00. For anything later, take a taxi and expect the 20% night surcharge from 23:00.
Gotchas for foreigners
- Tap out or pay the maximum. On the express and limousine buses the fare depends on where you get off, and the reader only knows if you tap. This is the mistake that costs visitors the most on Jeju buses.
- Do not count on cash. Jeju Province's fare table still lists a cash fare, but the island's buses moved to card and QR payment in late 2024 according to local reports, and drivers may not take coins or notes. Carry a T-money card with at least ₩10,000 on it. Tapping a foreign credit card on a Jeju bus reader is not something the province documents, so do not plan around it.
- The province's bus app is gone. The Jeju bus information system announced in July 2026 that its app was discontinued. Use the website, which has an English version, or Naver Map or Kakao Map for live arrival times.
- 600 and 601 are not the same bus. Both leave from Gate 5 and both go to Jungmun, but only 600 continues to Seogwipo.
- Black taxis are not a scam, just expensive. Deluxe taxis (모범택시) legitimately charge close to double the regular meter. If you want the regular fare, wait for a regular taxi.
- The interpreter taxi is a tour, not a ride. Jeju's official Global Taxi (글로벌택시) offers English, Chinese, and Japanese speaking drivers for day hires, from ₩220,000 (about $160) for eight hours with up to four passengers, booked in advance by phone. It is not a cheaper way to reach your hotel.
- SIM cards are only sold on the international side. The domestic wing has no carrier counter, so if you arrived in Korea through Incheon or Gimpo, sort out your eSIM or SIM there first.
